This course will fulfill your Class A/B training requirement and is approved by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) updated their UST regulations to incorporate the revised 2015 Federal UST requirements with an effective date of December 7, 2017. Petro Classroom’s Class A/B/C course reflects these updates and includes compliance deadlines for the major provisions.

Petro Classroom designed this Class A/B Operator training to provide Class A/B Operators with an easy-to-use online training course that can be completed anytime, anywhere, in approximately 4 hours. There are 7 chapters that can be completed at your own pace. You can start, stop and return to the course as your schedule permits.

No final exam! At Petro Classroom, we understand how difficult it can be to try and retain 4 hours of information and then take a huge final exam. The Petro Classroom Class A/B Operator training is designed with mini quizzes throughout each chapter, so you learn a little and then take a quiz on the information you just learned. This format makes it easier to retain the information and successfully pass the quizzes. You must pass all the quizzes in each chapter with an 80% before moving on to the next chapter. If you fail a quiz, you can review the chapter and take the quiz again.

Additionally, this course includes breakout sections for Operators of Generator USTs.

Class A and B Operators must complete the following 7 chapters in order to obtain their Class A/B Certificate of Completion:

Chapter 1: Introduction

Your increased awareness of compliance issues and the operation of your tank system will lead to decreased maintenance costs and increased profits for your facilities. You must complete all the chapters in sequence to receive your certificate of completion.

​Chapter 2: Components of Tank Systems

This chapter is an in-depth look at the components of a tank system and common equipment issues that may cause leaks and require regular monitoring, maintenance and repair.  This chapter also includes a breakout section for Operators of Generator USTs.

Chapter 3: Release Detection and Reporting

This chapter delves into the various methods of leak detection in compliance with state and federal law and the importance of proper installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.

Chapter 4: State Requirements

This chapter will discuss the specific and unique requirements of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).

Chapter 5: Temporary & Permanent Closure

This chapter discusses the rule requirements and recordkeeping for placing a tank in temporary closure or permanent closure and changing the service of a tank.

Chapter 6: Operator Training

This chapter defines the duties and responsibilities of the Class A, B and C UST Operators as well as the certification training and documentation requirements for each class of operator.

​​Chapter 7: Inspections

This chapter will cover the State’s compliance inspections and the new federally mandated periodic owner/operator inspections (e.g., 30-Day Walkthrough Inspections) as set forth by the 2015 UST Regulations.
