  • What kind of training does Petro Classroom offer?
Petro Classroom offers Class A/B UST Operator Training and Class C UST Operator Training as required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Most of our Class A/B UST Operator courses include training for Class A/B/C Operators of emergency generator tank systems as required by the EPA 2015 revised underground storage tank (UST) regulations. But some states require separate training for Class A/B Operators of emergency generator tanks systems. For example, in the state of Illinois we offer separate courses: Illinois Class A/B/C Operator Course (for Dispensing Facilities) Illinois Class A/B/C Operator Course (for Generator Systems) Some of our courses also include aboveground storage tank (AST) operator training (e.g., New Mexico Class A/B/C Operator Training). And we offer International Code Council (ICC) preparation courses for UST Tank Contractors and Class A and B Operators required to take certification exams through the ICC.
  • What training formats are offered?
We offer both Classroom and Online training for Class A/B UST Operators and Online Training for Class C UST Operators.
  • Do you offer state-approved UST Operator courses?
The EPA guidelines allow the states to accept Class C Operator Training conducted by a trained Class A or Class B Operator. Our course assists the Class A or B Operator in fulfilling their responsibility to train Class C staff. To find our State-Approved Class A/B Operator Certification Courses for your state, go to our training catalog at: https://training.petroclassroom.com
  • Are there separate courses for Class A UST Operators and Class B UST Operators?
No. The course for Class A and B UST Operators (i.e., Class A/B UST Operator Training) is one course designed for both types of operators. Essentially, the Class A and B UST Operators must know about 90% of the same information for their certification. Class B UST Operators must know about UST components and responsibility for Class C designation and training. However, often the Class A and B UST Operators are the same person.
  • What is the Classroom A/B UST Training like? Does it include an exam?
During our Class A/B Classroom Training, students will receive instruction from knowledgeable, experienced instructors and get answers to their site-specific questions on the spot. Class A/B UST Operators will gain insight into the world of confusing regulations and apply it to their everyday activities. Operators can engage in lively conversations with other tank owners/operators and learn from their experiences. Class A/B Operators will fulfill their Class A/B Operator Certification upon completion of a brief exam (instructors can provide verbal exam for students with difficulty taking written tests). The typical classroom training schedule: Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. Class begins at 9:00 a.m. Class ends at 4:00 p.m.
  • What is the online Class A/B and C Operator training like? Does it include an exam?
Our online, web-based training is user-friendly and very convenient for Class A/B and C Operators who do not have the time to attend classroom training and want to save on travel expenses. You can take the Class A/B and C course from anywhere, anytime and at your own pace. The Petro Classroom online Class A/B and C Operator Training Courses are designed with mini quizzes throughout the course content, so you learn a little and then take a quiz on the information you just learned. If you fail a quiz, you can review the course content and take the quiz again. Upon successful completion of the course, a "Certificate of Completion" will be issued in a printable format.
