What kind of training does Petro Classroom offer?Petro Classroom offers Class A/B UST Operator Training and Class C UST Operator Training as required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Most of our Class A/B UST Operator courses include training for Class A/B/C Operators of emergency generator tank systems as required by the EPA 2015 revised underground storage tank (UST) regulations. But some states require separate training for Class A/B Operators of emergency generator tanks systems. For example, in the state of Illinois we offer separate courses: Illinois Class A/B/C Operator Course (for Dispensing Facilities) Illinois Class A/B/C Operator Course (for Generator Systems) Some of our courses also include aboveground storage tank (AST) operator training (e.g., New Mexico Class A/B/C Operator Training). And we offer International Code Council (ICC) preparation courses for UST Tank Contractors and Class A and B Operators required to take certification exams through the ICC.

Do you offer state-approved UST Operator courses?The EPA guidelines allow the states to accept Class C Operator Training conducted by a trained Class A or Class B Operator. Our course assists the Class A or B Operator in fulfilling their responsibility to train Class C staff. Are there separate courses for Class A UST Operators and Class B UST Operators?No. The course for Class A and B UST Operators (i.e., Class A/B UST Operator Training) is one course designed for both types of operators. Essentially, the Class A and B UST Operators must know about 90% of the same information for their certification. Class B UST Operators must know about UST components and responsibility for Class C designation and training. However, often the Class A and B UST Operators are the same person.

What is the Classroom A/B UST Training like? Does it include an exam?During our Class A/B Classroom Training, students will receive instruction from knowledgeable, experienced instructors and get answers to their site-specific questions on the spot. Class A/B UST Operators will gain insight into the world of confusing regulations and apply it to their everyday activities. Operators can engage in lively conversations with other tank owners/operators and learn from their experiences. Class A/B Operators will fulfill their Class A/B Operator Certification upon completion of a brief exam (instructors can provide verbal exam for students with difficulty taking written tests). The typical classroom training schedule: Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. Class begins at 9:00 a.m. Class ends at 4:00 p.m.

What is the online Class A/B and C Operator training like? Does it include an exam?Our online, web-based training is user-friendly and very convenient for Class A/B and C Operators who do not have the time to attend classroom training and want to save on travel expenses. You can take the Class A/B and C course from anywhere, anytime and at your own pace. The Petro Classroom online Class A/B and C Operator Training Courses are designed with mini quizzes throughout the course content, so you learn a little and then take a quiz on the information you just learned. This format makes it easier to retain the information and pass the quizzes. You must pass all the quizzes with an 80% (some states require only 70%) to obtain your certification. If you fail a quiz, you can review the course content and take the quiz again. Upon successful completion of the course, a "Certificate of Completion" will be issued in a printable format. The Class C Operator online course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, and the Class A/B Operator online course consists of 7 to 9 chapters (depending on the state) and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

Is the Class C Operator Training offered in a classroom setting?No. The Class C Operator Training is not offered in a classroom setting. It is only offered online.

Do I need to recertify after some period of time?The requirement to recertify Class A, B, and C operators varies by state. If you are a Class C Operator, check with your Class A/B Operator about the recertification requirements in your state. If you are a Class A/B Operator, check with your state regulatory agency for recertification requirements in your state.

My company has several employees to be trained. What does your online operator training offer companies such as mine?For companies wanting to train multiple employees, training courses may be purchased in bulk, and then provided to specified employees to take the training. Company administrators will have access to reports that provide the status of training by the company’s employees, along with the ability to print the certificate for employees that have completed training. Can I exit from the online operator training and then start again from where I left off?Yes. You may exit from the course at any time, and then re-enter the course at a later time to continue the training from the point where you left off.

Do I get a certificate after completing the operator training?Yes. Upon successful completion of the online course, a "Certificate of Completion" will be issued in a printable format.
