Oklahoma UST Installation/Retrofitting

Oklahoma UST regulations (165:25-1-101. Licensing procedure for UST Installers) require UST Installers to take four (4) hours of continuing education every year to maintain a UST Installer license. Petro Classroom's Oklahoma UST Installation/Retrofitting course is approved by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Petroleum Storage Tank Division (PSTD) for four (4) hours of continuing education credits.

 

This course consists of 11 chapters and a final exam.  Once you complete the course and pass the final exam, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can submit to the PSTD for continuing education credits.

Chapter 1: Introduction
This chapter provides you with an overview of what the Oklahoma UST Installation/Retrofitting (DEQ-IR-0026) course is all about and provides the resources and reading materials you will need, including where to locate all state and federal regulations.


Chapter 2: Site Preparation and Pre-Installation Testing
In this chapter we will discuss preparing the site for the installation activities and pre-installation testing.  


Chapter 3: Materials
In this chapter we will discuss the materials used in the installation of UST systems.


Chapter 4: Excavation, Bedding and Backfill
In this chapter we will discuss excavation of the UST pit, the appropriate considerations for the bedding the tank will lie on and backfilling around the new tank.


Chapter 5: Placement Equipment
In this chapter we will discuss correct installation and placement of tank anchors, tank fill lines, devices, connections, automatic leak detection systems, observation wells, and product and vent piping.

 
Chapter 6: Overfill Prevention and Secondary Containment
In this chapter we will discuss tank overfill protection and secondary containment requirements. 


Chapter 7: Vapor Recovery Systems
In this chapter we will discuss Stage I and Stage II Vapor Recovery Systems. 


Chapter 8: Tank Decommissioning and Cleaning
While this course is designed for UST installation, you may be present during or be asked to assist in tank decommissioning and tank cleaning prior to beginning tank installation.  This chapter provides a brief discussion of the methods utilized and hazards to be aware of during these activities. 

 

Chapter 9: Cathodic Protection
In this chapter we will discuss cathodic protections requirements to protect buried metallic components from corrosion. 


Chapter 10: Test Methods and Testing Requirements
In this chapter we will discuss test methods and testing requirements to achieve the requirement to complete the required monthly leak detection for tanks and lines.  


Chapter 11: Health and Safety
In this chapter will discuss the health and safety measures that need to be taken during the installation of an underground tank system. 

Final Exam:

There will be quizzes interspersed throughout each chapter, which will prepare you for the final exam.  You will be able to review each quiz to determine what you answered correctly or incorrectly. Note: The Classroom format will not include quizzes.

There is also a final exam that you must pass with a 75% in order to receive your Certificate of Completion.  You may take the exam multiple times.  The exam is set up to randomly pull the questions so if you take the exam more than once, you will not have exactly the same questions. You have 1 ½ hours to complete the exam. Note: The Classroom format includes one final exam.
